Breast Cancer Awareness Month activities wrapping up

Cross Creek’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month activities are wrapping this week.

There have been door decorating contests and fundraisers throughout the month of October.

Students also learned information about this horrible disease.

Did you know that breast cancer is the second most common cancer in women? About 1 in 8 women born today in the United States will get breast cancer at some point. Some women are lucky enough to survive the disease if it is found and treated at an early stage. For women in the U.S., breast cancer death rates are higher than those for any other cancer, besides lung cancer.

Some people may question why Breast Cancer Month is important. It is important because it raises awareness of the disease and the importance of detecting it at an early stage, it can also save a life.

Being diagnosed with breast cancer can change your life forever, it does not only change you physically but also mentally.
