Milk and honey…not only good for the body but good for the soul as well.
Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur is a collection of thought provoking poetry. Rupi Kaur is a Toronto based writer and photographer. She’s most known for sharing her work on the social media platform Instagram and has earned her title as an”instapoet”.
The book is divided into four sections that speak on different topics that we all admittedly feel multiple times throughout life. Milk and honey seems to take you through the journey of a lifetime. The pains and struggles yet the joys and the beauty.
Rupi Kaur embraces her femininity, emotions, and vulnerability in milk and honey. She gives other girls who have felt how she did a sense of companionship and hope.. In the first three chapters she talks about elements that are hard hitting. The hurting, loving, and breaking…which all seem to bring immense pain. She follows these chapters filled with pain and disposition with chapter four “the healing” which brings a sense of closure. Giving you a sense that you have overcome some of the hardest trials and that when hard times arise again you will once again overcome.
Each poem is simply yet powerfully put. It doesn’t take a poetry aficionado to understand the concept that Rupi Kaur wants to hit on poem by poem.
She writes in a way that you can mentally put yourself back in those moments…so that you can feel those exact emotions once more.
