Teacher Spotlight: Mr. Baker

Teacher Spotlight: Mr. Baker

While the war in Afghanistan goes on, one former convoy leader has put down the rifle and picked up the books.

Mr. Baker began his educational journey eight years ago, when he was inspired by his high school football coach, who happened to be a history teacher.

Though Baker’s original intentions were not to be a teacher, he now deeply enjoys his career choice, and confidently said “teaching is a profession you will never be your best at.”

Mr. Baker said that one of the main highlights of his career is seeing the same students walk across the stage and receive their diploma or “blank copy.”

Mr. Baker, who is happily married, happens to be an “original” Cowboys fan and always has a bad Monday if they lose the Sunday before.

Baker was a star athlete in high school and even went to college to play. However, he gave all his students an intro into the mistakes and misfortunes that resulted in his college departure. Baker does not see this as a failure in his life because he has had many doors open from these events and you could even call it a life changer.
